Maseu @ Sneinton Market

Documenting Nottingham’s Stencil Artist

I first had the pleasure of meeting artist Maseu back in the summer of 2015. Working with good friend Arek, the couple meticulously¬†composed Maseu’s ‘Hood for Life’ mural on the corner of Nottingham’s Sneinton market.

Originally from Poland, Maseu’s inspiration comes from the legend of Robin Hood following our protagonist’s move to Nottingham. Blessed with patience and a thorough eye for detail our artist’s hard work pays off with intricate & eyecatching street art. Maseu’s subjects are often hooded, incorporatng elements of gangster culture.

Again, in 2016 I got the chance to document the duo when they painted at the inaugural ‘Nottingham Block Party‘. This time changing wall for corrugated iron, providing a extra¬†aesthetic to Maseu’s masked portraiture.

As the Block Party returns to Sneinton this Saturday, so does Maseu. Here’s hoping for more wonderful hooded creations from Nottingham’s Stencil Artist.
